MEM: Update to MEM80122 Graduate Diploma of Engineering

The recent changes to MEM80122 Graduate Diploma of Engineering (released 18 December 2022) that reduced the total number of elective units that can be chosen from seven to four have restricted the flexibility of this qualification. Additionally, seven units of competency in total for the qualification does not align with the higher educational requirement of a Graduate Diploma structure, making articulation arrangements more difficult.

To meet industry needs and enable pathway opportunities, it is proposed to update the packaging rules for MEM80122 Graduate Diploma of Engineering to a total of 10 units of competency compromising of three core and seven electives of the qualification.

The expected outcome of this project will ensure MEM80122 Graduate Diploma of Engineering is consistent with the typical structure of a Graduate Diploma.

Closed

Public and government consultation for MEM: Update to Graduate Diploma of Engineering was open from 12 August until 6 September 2024.

The packaging rules for the MEM80122 Graduate Diploma of Engineering qualification have been amended to include a total of 10 units of competency, compromising of three core and seven elective units. This change closely aligns the qualification structure more closely with the higher education AQF requirements, enabling greater articulation. An additional Group B elective bank has been offered to provide a range of options, enabling flexibility of the qualification structure.

We are seeking feedback on the suitability of the draft content to ensure it is accurate and relevant and meets the needs of industry.
