MANUFACTURING WORKFORCE PLAN 2024

THE MANUFACTURING ALLIANCE IS PLEASED TO PRESENT THE MANUFACTURING WORKFORCE PLAN 2024

This Workforce Plan is drawn from extensive work undertaken to identify the critical workforce and skills issues in the context of an economy-wide skills shortage, with the tightest labour market experienced in 50 years.

This Plan builds on the 2023 Initial Workforce Plan and provides an overview of manufacturing in Australia, including the current and emerging sub-sectors within Australian manufacturing.

Through extensive consultation across the manufacturing sector, the Workforce Plan analyses four key challenges facingthe manufacturing sector over the next five years: Attraction and increasing the pipeline of apprentices; Lack of diversity; Ageing workforce; and Emerging skills, occupations and industries.
