Manufacturing Alliance welcomes $53.95 Million investment in the TAFE NSW Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence
The Manufacturing Industry Skills Alliance welcomes the announcement of a $53.95 million commitment from the Australian and NSW governments to establish the TAFE NSW Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence in Western Sydney. This investment is a key step towards addressing the nation’s skills gap and supporting a Future Made in Australia.
“As the Manufacturing Jobs and Skills Council, we look forward to supporting and collaborating with the TAFE NSW Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence. The centre will be showcasing the exciting technology and innovation available to those pursuing a career in manufacturing.” said Sharon Robertson, CEO of the Manufacturing Alliance.
The 2024 Manufacturing Workforce Plan identified the importance of providing the skills training needed for future focused advanced manufacturing jobs. Advances in robotics, data analysis, and cybersecurity are driving significant changes in manufacturing, and the TAFE NSW Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence – Western Sydney, will play a pivotal role in ensuring Australian workers have the skills that industry needs.
With over 30% of manufacturing employees based in NSW, the Centre will also be important to supporting skills development for key emerging industries identified in the workforce plan including Defence, MedTech/Pharma, Space, Clean Energy, and Sustainability.
