This activity is in response to options identified in the Aviation Maintenance Skills Pathways report that the MEA training package be updated to support the change to CASA Maintenance Licencing, that introduced the option for issue of a modular licence.

What we’re reviewing
- A Review of the CASR 147 Part 66 Curriculum and modular licence requirements against the MEA Training package, identifying required changes.

- Review Competency units to meet the part 66 knowledge requirements.
- Conduct targeted consultation beyond the technical advisory committee.
- Review the Companion volume and Implementation guide to include licencing and career guidance material. work proposed changes to the following training products
Updates to Qualifications:
• 13 plus a review of 5 qualifications total of 18
Updates to Skill sets:
• 161 plus a review of 10 plus creation of 1 new total of 172 skill sets
Updates to units of Competency:
• 185 plus a review of 77 including 8 new total of 270 units
This work covers the Aeroskills (MEA) Training Package.
What we’re developing
Draft new competency units including a skill set to support the specialised modular licence categories.
Technical Committee and Consultation Strategy
Manufacturing Industry Skills Alliance is currently establishing the Technical Committee for the Aviation Maintenance Skills Alignment Project to provide industry and educational advice on the project, the proposed training products, and the Consultation Strategy.
Release draft products for broad stakeholder feedback in line with Consultation Strategy.
Update products in line with feedback, publish summary consultation log on website, determine whether further consultation is required.
Seek feedback from Commonwealth, state and territory authorities, amend products as required.
Submit final draft products for endorsement/recommendation to Skills Ministers.
Final products have been submitted and are awaiting endorsement.
